Wellbeing Practitioner

Manchester, United Kingdom Secret Intelligence Service Full time

**Hours**: Full time, part time, and compressed hours available, with the option of remote working one day a week.

**About us**:
MI5 safeguards the UK against threats such as terrorism, espionage, cyber and sabotage. We investigate suspect individuals and organisations in the UK to obtain, collate, analyse and assess secret intelligence relating to these threats. Alongside our British Intelligence partners MI6 and GCHQ, we provide the UK government with the information they need to protect national security.

**The role**:
The success of our mission depends on the wellbeing of our people. As our Wellbeing Practitioner, you’ll work on behalf of all three agencies to support and promote staff wellbeing. You’ll operate as part of our Employee Assistance Programme, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team comprised of mental health and wellbeing experts. Working alongside wellbeing practitioners, outreach delivery teams, clinical psychologists, counsellors and occupational health nurses, you’ll ensure individuals across the intelligence community feel empowered, inspired and supported.

In this role, you’ll assist the senior advisors in the triage of referrals and deliver one-to-one and group interventions for less complex cases. You’ll take the lead on several aspects of service delivery, such as the delivery of wellbeing training courses, monitoring resources (including the updating of internal and external support sources), and Management Information collection.

You’ll also be required to join an on-call rota for approximately one week in every ten, as well as travel between our national sites every month. There may also be the option for overseas travel on an annual basis.

**About you**:
You’ll bring your background of working in a mental health/wellbeing setting to this role, as well as your experience delivering one-to-one and group interventions. Importantly, Mental Health First Aid or Mental Health Awareness training is essential.

You might’ve worked in the public or private sector; your knowledge will include working with adults and delivering support services in different formats including guided self-help, face-to-face and online. Empathetic and calm under pressure, you’ll have good people skills and enjoy engaging with others. You’ll know how to prioritise tasks and work with autonomy as you provide reliable, inclusive support across multiple disciplines.

**Training and development**:
You won’t be expected to take on all your responsibilities immediately. Instead, you’ll be given an incremental approach to the full role, supported with internal training. Upon joining, you’ll also be given an induction to the organisation and your team to help you settle quickly.

**Rewards and Benefits**:

- You’ll receive a starting salary of £32,050 plus other benefits including:
- 25 Days Annual Leave automatically rising to 30 days after 5 years' service, and an additional 10.5 days public and privilege holidays
- Opportunities to be recognised through our employee performance scheme
- Personal Learning Budget
- Interest-free season ticket loan
- Excellent pension scheme
- Cycle to work scheme
- Facilities such as a gym, restaurant and on-site coffee bars (at some locations)
- Paid parental and adoption leave.

**Equal Opportunities**:
**We’re Disability Confident**
- Application form -You will be asked a series of questions relating to this vacancy and are required to meet the minimum pass mark set.
- On successful completion of these stages, you will be invited to attend a virtual Interview.

**What to Expect**

Our recruitment process is fair, transparent, and based on merit. Here is a brief overview of each stage, in order:

- If you are successful at this stage, we will then start the vetting process, which includes a Security Interview. This interview is an important part of the selection process. It’s an interview to explore your life and experiences, and it’s not a competency or capability-based interview.
