The UCL Division of Psychiatry, located within the Faculty of Brain Sciences, is a world-renowned centre of excellence in mental health research. This position focuses on research related to diversity in genomics. Individuals with non-European ancestry are currently severely under-represented in genetic research. Increased diversity in research is crucial to reduce national and global health inequalities. Our group has produced some of the leading research in this area.

**About the role**:
This postdoc position aims to seek novel genetic associations, assess the transferability of established loci and characterise the genetic architecture in different populations. The work will cover projects across different outcomes, including sickle cell disease, ageing and depression. Data resources include unique in-house cohorts, as well as the 100K Genomes Project and Genes & Health.

The main purpose of the job will be to leverage the unique characteristics of diverse populations to gain a better understanding of the causes of diseases and assess or develop novel methods to carry out genetic research in diverse populations.

**Appointment details**:

- The post is graded on UCL grade 7, spine point 30 (£42,099 per annum including London Allowance).
- The appointment is funded for 1.5 years in the first instance.
