We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our multi-disciplinary Public Health Division in a Service Lead role. This is a rare opportunity for a highly skilled individual to join Public Health within the largest Local Authority in the country and lead work that contributes to Birmingham being a great city that enables people to live healthy and active lives.
The Public Health Division is engaged in a dynamic and diverse range of innovative work at a local, regional, national and international level.
**The Role**
This is an exciting role for a motivated and engaging professional to lead on the delivery of healthy lifestyles programmes and mandated public health services for adults in a large multi-disciplinary Public Health Division serving England's second city. Birmingham is a global city with a vision to create a place where everyone can make choices that empower them to be happy and healthy. You will lead projects and partnerships to improve the health and wellbeing across our diverse city including commissioning NHS health checks, smoking cessation services, adult weight management and sexual health services, workplace health and the co-ordination of the Birmingham Fast Track Cities + initiative. You will be managing a team and influencing work to improve the health and wellbeing of groups who often face significant barriers to accessing mainstream services. You will support the implementation of long-term conditions prevention strategies and local healthy workplace programmes. You will be providing direction and working in partnership across the city to deliver the ambitions of the local Health and Wellbeing Board strategy and Integrated Care Board 10-year plan.
**Skills & Experience**
This is an ideal opportunity for somebody who:
- has substantial experience of working with a wide range of partners and stakeholders in supporting Public Health outcomes, for example elected members and the commissioners and providers of health and care services;
- is able to interact with the diverse communities of Birmingham and is passionate about reducing health inequalities;
- has experience of delivering performance and governance arrangements and developing and implementing improvement programmes in line with agreed priorities.
- understands the role that the health and wellbeing board and its sub-Forums can play to improve health and wellbeing.
- has demonstrable knowledge and understanding of Public Health priorities and relevant policy environment;
- has substantial experience of developing and coordinating the delivery of projects in complex and challenging environments.
- has experience in developing staff through both formal and informal opportunities.
