**Responsible to : Maintenance Supervisor/ Manager/ Director**

**Job Summary**:

- Maintain the Home and its grounds in a good state of repair in line with current legislation and following all Health and Safety guidelines and Fire Safety guidelines.
- Become competent in First Aid and P.A.T. testing and attend all mandatory training.

**Duties and responsibilities**:

- Read maintenance sheet on arrival and do urgent jobs immediately. Sign and date jobs as completed.
- Undertake repairs if within your competency.
- Maintain outside of building and grounds, reporting anything out with your competence.
- Paint and decorate as and when required.
- Check electrical appliances with Home appliance tester and be aware of when other maintenance services and checks are due.
- Check each month that all fire extinguishers are in place and test emergency lighting and record in fire book.
- Check fire equipment as required by legislation.
- Report any problems or defects to the Matron.
- Report accidents, injuries, dangerous occurrences, near misses, hazards and risks to Manager and take action to reduce the risk of accidents.
- Check and record water temperature outlets weekly and carry out any other regular checks required.
- Do any other maintenance or building work as agreed with the Matron and the Director.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties requested.
- Read and comply with Company and local policies and procedures.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings as appropriate and one to one supervision.
- Undertake in-house training and other training identified as appropriate by the Manager.
- Care for your own health, safety and welfare as well as that of others.
- Report any incidents or allegations of abuse in line with Safeguarding Vulnerable Adult policy.
- Co-operate with your employer.
- Promote anti-discriminatory practice throughout your work.
- Promote and maintain equality and diversity throughout the Company.
- Sharing on call duties in case of emergencies.
