**Job Purpose**
The post holder contributes technical expertise to the Software and Hardware Asset Management Services provided by the End User Services Team (EUC).
This role will also be involved in the day-to-day management of any third-party services required by the Asset Management Team.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Day to day operational management of the Hardware and Software Asset Management Service; responsible for:

- Software acquisition, compliance, maintenance renewals, life cycle planning and costing.
- Identify consolidation opportunities for maintenance & software licensing.
- Provide accurate information on software licences including renewal & maintenance records.
- Understand current licence conditions for key vendors and develop relationships with third parties for required support and verification.
- Understand software risk and compliance position and take active steps to manage and mitigate this.
These endeavours are supported by a cross University team of IT and AV staff both in Information Services and in the Colleges. The post holder will assist this cross disciplinary group by providing Asset Management services.
2. The post holder will work closely with any third-party suppliers engaged to deliver Asset Management Services to the University, to design and implement the new Asset Management service
3. Key member of the team responsible for maintenance of the Universities Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation from an Asset Management perspective by ensuring licence compliance across Cyber Essentials Plus devices.
4. Will be involved in managing external software audits for UofG owned software, working with the Asset Management Team Lead, Deputy Head - End User Computing and other UofG teams where required.
5. Assist in the design of, and ongoing management of the new Hardware Asset Management Processes required.

**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience**

**Knowledge/Qualifications**

**Essential**:

A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9 (Ordinary Degree, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4), or equivalent (including professional accreditation with relevant formal training), and experience of personal development in a similar or related roles supported by a broad-based IT knowledge, with specialist knowledge of asset management. Or the ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar or number of different roles.
A2 Up to date broad-based IT knowledge, including specialist thorough knowledge of Software and Hardware Asset Management.
A3 Proven track record of operating in a large complex environment.
A4 Good technical knowledge of Hardware and Software Asset Management tools and processes.
A5 Knowledge of IT Information Security for confidential data, both research/commercial and personal (e.g. Data Protection Act 2018), and the implications of security-by design in the IT service lifecycle and third part app integration.

**Skills**

**Essential**:
C2 Analyse the risk and impact of change and make appropriate recommendations to the management team.
C3 Understanding of disciplined change management processes.
C4 The post holder will require:

Sound knowledge of Software Asset Management tools (e.g. Snow or similar) and processes.
- Good knowledge of Hardware Asset Management processes.
C5 Good verbal and written communication skills.
C6 Ability to prioritise workload to deliver to tight deadlines and manage competing demands from various stakeholders often at short notice, in recognition of the mission critical nature of these services the Universities core business. An understanding of the delicate balance between service evolution and unwelcome change in the most challenging of delivery environments for staff (delivering lectures)

**Desirable**:

D1 Knowledge and understanding of major vendors licencing approaches (e.g. Microsoft, Adobe).
D2 Sound industry Knowledge and proactive approach to keeping aligned to Industry Best Practice, Industry Trends, and Industry Knowledge with regards to Software Asset Management.
D3 Industry recognised Software Asset Management certification.

**Experience**

**Essential**:

E1 Experience of Hardware and Software Asset Management.
E2 Experience of working with and influencing at various levels across the organisation including senior management.
E3 Experience of providing guidance and support to customers on the most suitable solution.

**Desirable**:

F1 Experience of working in a Higher Education environment.
F2 The ability to understand Software licensing contracts and installed software to produce and interpret Licensing statements.

**Terms and Conditions**
Salary will be Grade 7, £38,474 - £43,155 per annum.
