Test Engineer

MaPS (Money and Pensions Service) have an urgent 12 month - FTC for a Test Engineer within their busy Product Team. Support QA capability that inline with the wider QA Strategy, Implement the processes for selecting testing and monitor and own the use ofQA testing. You will act as a support to the Projects with QA, work with projects to define what testing is valid and then create the automated scripts to support these tests, where appropriate_
**The role**
**Our Test Engineer will need to be a self-starter and work as the go-to person within the Agile team, this is where you may need to write scripts from scratch using languages and tools that correspond with the wider organisation**
**Key accountabilities**
**As the Test Engineer, you will be responsible for the following**:
- Set up an Automated Test capability that fits within the wider QA Strategy
- Create and own the processes for selecting automated testing
- Select and own the automation tools
- Monitor and own the use of test automation
- Embed Automates Testing into the wider QA Strategy
- Support Projects with Test Automation
- Work with projects to define what automation is valid
- Create the automated scripts to support these tests
- Set up the scheduling and reporting of these scripts so information is easily accessible
- Support Agile Teams with Test Automation
- Work with Agile teams to maintain high-quality automated testing
- Link Agile outputs to wider automation testing, if applicable.
- Create and manage a regression library
- Establish a library of automated tests suitable for constant regression testing
- Create a control process for this library to ensure it remains relevant
- Own and champion the use of Automated Testing s part of the wider QA Strategy
- Work with stakeholders to promote the benefit of using appropriate automation
- Define the characteristics of successful automated testing
- Seek out opportunities to increase or innovate the Test Automation process
**Skills & experience**
**It is essential for the Test Engineer to demonstrate the following skills and experience**:
- Knowledge of modern test practices & test frameworks
- Experience in functional and non-functional testing, with the ability to plan, design, script and execute tests
- Ability to script Automation tests, including aspects such as data matrices and cross-browser functionality using Python
- Experience with automation test tools, preferably Selenium, LoadRunner, TestComplete or UFT
- Understanding of how to break down problems and solutions into small, independent deliverables for iterative development
- Familiarity with Scrum and general principles and practices of Agile development
- Ability to communicate with multiple levels of stakeholders, both technical and non-technical
- Ability to work comfortably in a team or individually, switching between both regularly
**Desirable Skills**:
- ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level
- ISTQB® Certified Tester Advanced Level - Test Automation Engineer
- Experience in full SDLC process
- Knowledge of other OOP Languages such as Java,.Net, Javascript etc
- Manual testing skillset
- Experience in Agile methodologies, including ability to work as part of a Scrum team
