Camden, Greater London, United Kingdom Spectrum It Recruitment Limited Full time

We're looking for a visionary leader to drive our software development team and propel us towards international expansion. As one of the fastest-growing E-Commerce startups, we've achieved profitability and over 150 million in annual turnover. Our sights are set on conquering the E-Commerce market by taking sizeable market share from industry giants.

With strong cash reserves and VC backing, now is the perfect time to expand our operations to over 100 countries internationally, with technology at the core of everything we do. We currently have 8 agile sprint teams in our development department but are adding 5 or 6 more as part of our expansion.

We need a hands-off, process-driven Chief Software Development Officer to drive productivity and ensure key objectives and deadlines are met. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, mentoring, and growing a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality software on time
  • Overseeing the entire software development lifecycle, from planning and architecture to deployment and ongoing maintenance
  • Collaborating closely with product, operations, and business teams to align technical efforts with business goals
  • Driving the adoption of best practices in coding, testing, and architecture, with a focus on scalability and performance
  • Removing blockers from the development team's path to ensure high productivity on key engineering challenges
  • Measuring and tracking development team's productivity and results against key objectives
  • Directly managing 14 or so technical leads, each with a sprint team working on different products

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • 7+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or management role
  • Experience managing larger engineering teams upwards of 50 people in size
  • Experience within a high-paced, growth mindset business
  • Ability to manage the balance of coding standards vs key deadlines and ensure timely delivery
  • Experience with launching products or expanding products to new markets within software/E-commerce
  • Ability to manage key stakeholders both externally and internally, including investors
  • A get-it-done mentality and comfortable working to tight deadlines
  • Passion and drive to grow a business, not just work a 9-to-5

In return, you'll enjoy:

  • An estimated salary range of £90,000 to £110,000 per annum
  • Up to £110,000 per annum + highly valuable share options
  • Fully remote working environment
  • Be part of an ambitious and high-growth startup with huge potential
