Position Overview:
As part of The FPS Group®, FPS Environmental Ltd delivers engineering excellence within the flood, water, and environmental sectors. Our team of highly-qualified flood risk consultants deliver the best service in the business, and we pride ourselves on being BBC’s and Sky News’ favoured flood risk consultants.

We are seeking a motivated Flood Risk / Drainage Engineer to join our team, specialising in flood risk assessments, sustainable drainage design, flood surveying, and strategic flood risk assessment support. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilising advanced tools and technologies, while also supporting natural flood management initiatives.

At FPS we have recently won a place as the Primary Delivery Partner on the Environment Agency's Property Flood Resilience Framework in the North East and North West, alongside other exciting projects. The role would assist with the delivery and have exciting opportunity for growth and learning. There will be significant site based work, including working away from home.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Flood Risk Assessments: Perform comprehensive flood risk assessments to analyse potential flood hazards, assess vulnerabilities, and develop strategies for flood risk reduction.
- Drainage System Design: Design innovative and efficient drainage solutions for various projects, ensuring resilience against flooding events and environmental sustainability. There will be particular focus on the design of SuDS, as Schedule 3 becomes integral to the planning process.
- Flood Surveying: Conduct flood surveys nationwide, collecting data on flood extents, water flow patterns, and damage assessment to inform accurate flood risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- CAD and GIS Usage: Utilize CAD and GIS software for drafting flood maps, drainage designs, and survey data visualisation.
- Infodrainage and Network Modelling: Proficiently use InfoDrainage software to model intricate drainage networks and assess hydraulic performance.
- Strategic Flood Risk Support: Provide expertise in supporting strategic flood risk assessments for local councils, contributing to long-term flood management strategies.
- Natural Flood Management Advisory: Offer guidance on natural flood management approaches, collaborating with environmental specialists to integrate sustainable solutions.
- Client Engagement: Participate in client interactions, presenting findings, solutions, and recommendations with clarity and professionalism.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation, prepare detailed reports, and create presentations that effectively communicate complex concepts to stakeholders.

Location: Nottingham/Midlands

Qualifications and Skills:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Solid understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, and flood risk assessment principles.
- Proficiency in CAD and GIS software for drafting, design, and data visualization.
- Experience or willingness to learn Infodrainage software for drainage network modelling.
- Effective project management skills, including the ability to conduct nationwide flood surveys.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills for effective client interactions and teamwork.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
- Eligibility for or interest in pursuing professional membership with ICE or CIWEM.
- Possess a valid driving license with access to a vehicle, as this role involves nationwide flood surveying and site visits.

**Salary**: £25,000.00-£37,500.00 per year
