**TECHNICAL LEAD (QC MICROBIOLOGY & BIOCHEMISTRY)**

With a purpose built facility outside of Edinburgh, ESS Recruit’s client is a leading UK in-vitro life sciences and biotechnology business. They have developed a high growth and hugely exciting medical devices business, to complement their core scientific products. Well funded and led by some senior players from within the UK medical device community, this technology will completely revolutionise how blood banks and hospitals profile, transfuse, diagnose and manage blood typing.

**Responsibilities**:

- Making decisions and solving complex problems through taking a wider view
- Participate in review, interpretation, approval & reporting of data trends originating from QC
- Support the implementation of new equipment and processes from a technical standpoint
- Lead / manage small departmental and cross functional project teams as required in Microbiologist & Biochemistry group operations.
- Acting as a coach to support training and development of team members and other employees within a learning environment
- Interpreting internal or external issues and recommend solutions / best practices as input on resource planning and policy development
- Interprets outputs of QMS records as well as practical-based competency assessment

programs to increase understanding and knowledge across the team.
- Lead and support investigations as required to determine validity of out of specification, out of trend events and drive root cause of non-conformances (root cause analysis experience)
- Experience in in vitro diagnostic manufacturing would be advantageous
