We are very excited to offer an opportunity to join our dynamic midwifery team as a Retention Support Midwife at Scarborough. Driven, experienced, and highly motivated, the successful applicant will enhance the support provided to our Newly Qualified, Return to Practice and Return to Midwifery Midwives.

You will also be involved with the recruitment of Internationally Educated Midwives and their subsequent support. You will have a focus on retention, with the provision of pastoral care alongside existing ward managers, practice educators and professional midwifery advocates (PMAs). You will support the Senior Midwifery Management in the recruitment and retention of midwifery staff and to provide a pastoral support role.
- Facilitate the preceptorship programme for new starters by supporting new midwives during their 12-18 months of midwifery practice to enable them to bridge the theory practice gap, consolidate their midwifery skills and enable effective clinical decision-making.
- Act as a resource for the support and guidance of staff in the clinical setting, encouraging further development of their skills and to ensure cohesion and effective team working.
- Provide an expert clinician role model and offer professional advice for midwives in the clinical practice setting.
- To support midwives both practically and academically when undertaking individual developmental support or supervised practice.
- They will provide support for practice assessors and supervisors, preceptees and preceptors in their role.
- Work closely with the midwifery practice education team and clinical teams to adhere to and implement the Trusts policy on preceptorship and clinical supervision.
