Night Support Worker

**38.5 hours a week, Shifts times, 9.30pm to 8.30am. Working a four on, four off rota pattern.**
This is a fantastic opportunity for a role that supports young people to learn how to sustain a tenancy and to manage their own accommodation.
You will be supporting our young people in their journey to independence, by implementing the policies and procedures in place that best support our young people to succeed. This is a lone worker role, so an ability in building the right relationships with the young people while maintaining professional boundaries is essential. Our night workers will usually work an 11 hour (waking) shift between 9.30pm and 8.30am, on a four night on, four night off rota. Although these are long shifts, you will get four days off after, which can provide a great work life balance.
**Main Responsibilities**
- Help to maintain a welcoming, safe environment, identifying and minimising all potential risks to all our young people, visitors to the service and the building
- You will provide informal support to young people and be a listening ear
- You will respond to telephone calls and visits by external staff
- Ensure our young people are kept safe, working within our organisational and the local authorities safeguarding procedures
- You will manage young people and visitors in the immediate external areas and any associated safety issues
- You will deal with any incidents that may arise and contact external services when necessary
- You will provide detailed handovers to day staff, regarding young people’s safety and support information
- You will carry out light cleaning tasks when required
- You will manage any building issues/maintenance as per the relevant procedure
- Complete internal and external health & safety checks and ensure information is recorded accurately on internal systems in accordance with Health and Safety regulations
- You will triage out of hours issues which may arise in service and contact the on-call manager where applicable
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING**
Previous experience in this type of work is not essential but you will have a real passion for wanting to work with homeless people and those with related complex mental health issues. Your values will match ours, you will be committed to helping others and find satisfaction in the role and all that this brings.
- Clear verbal and written English
- Good IT and keyboard skills
- Polite, assertive manner, ability to self -motivate
- Being comfortable with lone working is an requirement
- Passion for working in a client/customer facing role
We were formed in April 2001 through the merger of the Society of St Dismas (founded in 1962) and St Petroc Housing association (founded in 1972). Both organisations shared a passion for housing and supporting vulnerable single people.

We support 16-65 year olds. Our services include outreach to rough sleepers, supported accommodation (direct access hostels, move-on accommodation, and resettlement flats), day centres, community support, housing first and landlord support services.
