**Head of Data & Analytics**:
**Head of Data & Analytics**
**The Head of Data & Analytics is a role within the Group IT leadership team with key responsibilities to build strategic business relationships with senior stakeholders; provide thought leadership to make JD Sports a data driven organisation through strategy and roadmap that emphasises collaboration between the business and the data function.

This role will need to lead high calibre teams with clear development plans and to recognise, define and support commercially important initiatives.
- Commercial business engagement:_
- Help the Central data team to be seen as a trusted ally by the business. This needs to be achieved by having a broad and deep understanding of key business processes and commercial ways of working.
- Be personally engaged with key (likely senior) stakeholders around JD Sports for whom the Data team provides solutions.
- Empower key members of the Central data team to create their own relationships with key stakeholders within projects.
- Articulate the value of Data & Analytics and link the relevant commercial benefits to our stakeholders.
- Business/Data strategy:_
- Work in collaboration with the rest of the business to enable a data driven organisation
- Implement action based process models across the value chain.
- Understand the needs of the business to propose solutions, defining a business case and delivering business outcomes.
- Architecture & business process management:_
- Have knowledge of data and information architecture, architecture governance, data modelling and continuous improvement.
- Provide leadership to develop commercially viable roadmaps and a business/leadership aligned to the business strategy.
- Understand the downstream and upstream of data flows through JD.
- Solutions and service delivery:_
- Provide thought leadership of delivery, development and data engineering life cycles.
- Coordinate cross functional teams to deliver data and analytics solutions.
- Deliver a customer focussed, globally connected, commercially focussed and secure data service underpinned by the best products.
- Provide exceptional service to customers; convey a clear understanding of their needs. Provide solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Continuously review our data architecture and support levels to provide the appropriate level of service and value to our stakeholders.
- Project management:_
- Provide leadership in the area of project methodology, approach, governance and pipeline management in the context of the Data & Analytics environment.
- Work with cross project teams to ensure successful implementations.
- Central data team leadership and management:_
- Ensure that the Central data team is led through a clear vision and sense of direction and can recognise its role in JD’s overall direction.
- Ensure that the team reporting into this role is strong and meets the business needs.
- Allow strong and clear delegation to the team.
- Member of the IT senior leadership team:_
- Contribute to the overall IT strategy for JD Sports
- Conducts themselves in line with JD Sports culture and values
- Be respectful as well as respected (albeit primarily to peers and direct reports)

**Delivering in the role**:
It is expected that all basic IT disciplines are well defined and delivered (in context) by the Data and Analytics team in the following areas (not an exhaustive list):

- Business relationship management
- Business-Data roadmaps
- Strategic and operational vendor management
- Enterprise data architecture
- Service management
- Project management
- Cost / Resource management
- Innovation management
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills with a proven track record in dealing with various levels of stakeholders to shape business initiatives.
- Strategic thinking and evalenglising data problems with the ability to conceptualise and think outside the box.
- Maintaining clear visibility to the business customers as the face of Data, listening to their priorities & concerns, sharing them with others to deliver successful business outcomes.
- Ability to prioritise, communicate and manage expectations with various stakeholders.
- Leadership in driving ideas and shape solutions which could be new, able to work on Proof of concepts and MVPs and articulate the value proposition.
- Ability to challenge/ influence business strategy and thinking.
- Show exceptional people skills with the ability to lead teams and collaborate across functional areas, with the focus on getting the best out of people.
- Their role as a team player, navigating a balance between ‘direct’ and ‘collaborative’ actions to agree a way forward.
- Results driven focus and ability to lead and work through ambiguity and changes in priorities.
