**About the Role**:
Ongar Health Centre has an exciting opportunity for a receptionist to join our friendly, hard-working team on a part-time basis for 19 hours per week shift patterns as follows:

- Monday 14:30 - 18:30
- Tuesday 13:30 - 18:30
- Wednesday 08:00 - 13:00
- Friday 08:00 - 13:00

Please note we also have another receptionist position advertised for 18.5 hours per week, job no. 7667.

Some flexibility is required as you will sometimes need to work additional/alternative hours to cover for colleagues.

There is more to our receptionist roles than answering the phone and making appointments. In this essential front-line role at the practice, receptionists help patients to access the right services, assist with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date, and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

- Assisting and directing patients
- Making appointments via telephone and face to face
- Dealing with queries and requests for information from patients and clinicians
- Advising patients of practice procedures
- Registering new patients.

Requirements:

- Excellent communication skills with a clear and polite telephone manner.
- Able to work in a polite, confidential, and discreet manner, respecting patients at all times.
- Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations.
- Confident to work as part of a team and be able to think on your feet independently.
- Strong IT and administration skills.

Desirable:

- Previous experience of SystmOne clinical system is desirable but not essential as training will be given.
- Experience of working in primary care would be preferred but full training will be given.
