Your role We are looking for several content designers to join our growing team. You will have a passion for making things easier for people to understand to help users complete their goal. You will have experience of working in a public sector environment, with a working knowledge of standards and principles, such as the GOV.UK Service Standard.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Producing content that is accurate, timely, relevant, easy to understand and meets GOV.UK standards.
- Building successful relationships with stakeholders and communicating effectively with them, including explaining content design decisions.
- Using analytical and problem-solving skills to help the team solve design problems and challenge assumptions.
- Championing user-centred design practices for digital products and services.
- Advocating for accessible digital products and services.
- Being an active part of the Content Design Community of Practice, including sharing ideas, best practice and proactively offering help and support.
- Helping create a welcoming, safe and inclusive team environment - encouraging mutual peer-to-peer support, and helping individuals achieve a good work-life balance.

This is a hybrid role. This means that the role will be based remotely, but you may need to travel to client sites and offices across the UK and stay away from home overnight.

**Requirements**:
Skills we are looking for
- Creating user-centred content: you have experience of creating evidence-based content (long form through to micro copy) that meets GOV.UK standards.
- Working in an agile environment: you appreciate the importance of agile delivery and know how to work in an agile, multidisciplinary team alongside designers and user researchers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills: you know how to work collaboratively as part of an effective team, and can tailor your written and verbal communication to suit a variety of audiences.
- Accessibility: you understand the importance of accessibility and how it applies to content design.
- Stakeholder relationship management: you can identify important stakeholders, building relationships with them and communicating with them regularly.
- Strategic thinking: you have experience of supporting content improvement projects.
- Understanding user needs: you understand the importance of user needs, and use quantitative and qualitative data to help inform your content design decisions.

We know not everyone will have all of the skills we are looking for. We are happy to support you to grow your skill set and experience through our training budget, working with our experienced teams and mentoring.
Additional skills and behaviours Skills that would also be useful in this role include:

- Experience conducting content audits or migrations and writing content strategies.
- Experience writing content for technical audiences, for example data dictionaries or API guides.
- Experience working on transactional, GOV.UK services.
- Experience in creating and updating prototypes, from paper sketches to coded prototypes (for example, using the GOV.UK Prototype Kit).
- Proactive approach to addressing environmental issues, embedding environmental responsibility in practices and standards, and encouraging clients to consider innovative solutions within the scope of work.
- Proactive approach to diversity, equality and inclusion, internally and with clients.
