- Doncaster City Council are seeking to recruit 2 Children’s Rights Workers to work with our children and young people in the areas of Advocacy, and Participation.
- The role is both varied and challenging and gives you the chance to make a significant impact on our services.
- You will work alongside our other Children’s Rights Workers in the areas of Advocacy and Participation providing crucial advocacy on behalf of children and young people that helps them to have their voices heard in child protection conferences, looked after children’s reviews and care plans etc as well as supporting them through the complaint’s procedure when necessary. An understanding of relevant legislation and or a qualification in advocacy would be advantageous.
- The successful applicant will be experienced in working with children and young people using consultation and participation to improve services. Increasing access to a wide range of educational and social activities will be an essential part of the role. The work will be ideally suited to someone able to communicate well with a range of audiences, a strong team player who is also able to work autonomously. An understanding of the needs of looked after children is necessary.
- We want to make sure that our children and young people have an influential voice in service design and delivery and that we learn from their experiences and views. In the role, you will work directly with children and young people aged using a range of tools to understand their views. This includes children with disabilities.
- You will support children to attend groups, conferences, reviews and plans, and work together with social workers, IRO’s and a range of other professionals to maximise take up of advocacy. You will also maintain accurate records of outcomes and contribute to the delivery of reports.
- There may also be occasions where you will provide support to our Independent Visitor Co-ordinators in the recruitment and training of volunteers to become a buddy to looked after children and young people.
- You will work under the supervision of the Team Manager to provide an enabling service which meets the needs of our children and young people. We are a flexible, committed team, and with us you’ll benefit from comprehensive training and development opportunities.
