**The Role**

To lead and manage the process of internal investigations into complex issues alleged gross misconduct or serious SOVA (Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults) cases across designated areas of the Disabilities Trust. To conduct the necessary investigations and report the evidence and mitigation to enable relevant personnel to assess and determine a resolution within a defined timescale.

**Main Tasks and Responsibilities**:

- To project manage and conduct serious and complex internal investigations, identifying the required timescales and activities in accordance with the appropriate DT policies and procedure/s.
- To collate and analyse relevant information/documentation and undertake thorough, objective and efficient investigations. Such investigations may include interviewing staff/witnesses in accordance with The Disabilities Trust procedures and in sufficient depth to obtain the necessary evidence.
- To continually review and evaluate the progress of the investigations in accordance with the Trusts Suspension Case Review Timeline and to instigate action where appropriate.
- To work cross functionally with other departments across the Trust, particularly with regard to other internal investigations that may be running concurrently i.e. Safeguarding, Health and Safety.
- To cooperate and liaise with any third parties who may be conducting their own external investigations i.e. Police, Local Safeguarding Team and the Care Quality Commission and to take action as appropriate.
- To prepare thorough, accurate, objective and concise investigation reports in accordance with the approved format, ensuring that all supporting evidence is complete, and concluding with a recommendation as to whether a disciplinary case should follow.
- To attend formal ER case hearings to provide further information and clarity to the ER case hearing/appeal panel.
- To produce regular casework reports, management information and statistics to identify the satisfactory completion of cases based on duration, cost and outcome. To make recommendations for initiatives to improve the internal investigations process across the Trust.
- To assist in the development and delivery of training and to provide advice/coaching for DT staff to develop their skills and competence to conduct effective investigations and produce appropriate investigations reports
- To undertake any other duties as may from time to time be specified by the Trust, that is within the level and responsibility appropriate to the grade of post
- To undertake, any reasonable travelling requirements, in order to fulfil the tasks and responsibilities of the role
