We are now recruiting for a Data Protection Advisor to join our Compliance team, in a full-time, permanent role at our Swindon offices located on key transport links in the town centre.

**Role context and purpose**:
The Data Protection Advisor supports the implementation and ongoing management of BCS’ data protection regime, monitoring the level of compliance against the regulatory standards to which the business is required to adhere.

**Education & Qualifications**
- Educated to ‘A’ Level standard or equivalent essential.
- Data Protection Practitioner Qualification or relevant experience
- UKAS Auditor qualification would be desirable

**Experience**
- Experience of working in a Legal or Compliance focussed environment
- Demonstrable experience in implementing data protection

**Competencies & skills**
- High degree of professionalism, honesty, integrity and confidentiality
- Able to present with credibility and confidence
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships
- Literate, numerate with high attention to detail
- Ability to make recommendations for change on a best fit, best practice approach
- Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
- Ability to interpret technical, regulatory information
- Ability to think logically, problem solve and question
- Calm, diplomatic and assertive
- MS Office skills to an intermediate level for Word and Excel

**Knowledge**
- An in depth understanding of GDPR/data protection
- Familiarity with ISO standards such as 9001 and 27001
- Working knowledge of compliance frameworks

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Make recommendations to the Compliance Manager to improve data protection and GDPR compliance.
- Review and advise in the creation of data protection impact assessments and legitimate interest assessments business wide.
- Create a ‘best fit’ approach for data processors.
- Work with the relevant functions and departments across the Group and ensure that BCS maintains processing inventories and a record/register of processing operations based on information provided by all departments in the organisation responsible for the processing of personal data.

**PLEASE NOTE: This vacancy requires you to work in the Swindon office at least 2 days per week. You may also be required to work in the Swindon office more frequently, for the first initial 6 weeks of joining; should you be successful.**
