An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Neurosurgery Department for a full time, permanent Waiting List Coordinator.

You will be responsible for managing the waiting list for a group of Neurosurgeons, coordinating admissions, pre-operative clinics and theatre lists.

This is a full time, permanent role working in the Brunel building. This role may have an element of working from home once fully trained.
- To maintain surgeons’ theatre diaries, selecting appropriate case mix in chronological order, acknowledging clinical priority
- To co-ordinate admission and associated pre-operative assessment clinics, ensuring all key staff are aware of organisational arrangements
- To act as a contact point, liaising with patients, relatives, medical representatives, GP’s/other hospitals, nursing staff, surgical team and support services
- To record performance of additional capacity to meet demand/shortfall in elective capacity
- To liaise with consultants and other staff regarding annual leave and other absences, to ensure operating lists are appropriately booked and closed if necessary.
- To manage the waiting list of a group of Consultants using Lorenzo, in accordance with the BNSSG Access Policy

- The Job involves periods of effort requiring intensive concentration.
- The post holder will be required to spend a large portion of their working day using a PC and the telephone
- Workload can be unpredictable
- Requirement to concentrate in a busy, open plan office environment
- The working environment can sometimes be noisy and busy - need to respect the privacy of colleagues and minimise interruptions or noise levels when possible
- Occasional contact with carers or patients who may be emotionally upset and may present in challenging ways, and with health care professionals. Requirement to be flexible to support the core working hours required by the department to deliver the service
