About Home-Start

Home-Start is a voluntary organisation set up to increase the confidence and independence of families with children under 5 who are experiencing the challenges of everyday life. We also support families from pregnancy focusing on attachment and bonding as we know the first 1001 days are crucial to a child's wellbeing and development. We train and support volunteers to offer support and help families to prevent crisis situations or family breakdown.

Our service is managed by Home-Start staff who ensure the support we offer is connected to local services and tailored to the needs of the individual local families. Our volunteers will have the opportunity to become a home-visiting or a group volunteer. Other volunteer opportunities may include admin, fundraising, gardening etc. Ongoing support and supervision will also be provided by our dedicated team of Family Support Co-ordinators.

Our volunteers are from different backgrounds and vary in age and have an interest in supporting families. A committed and active volunteer Board of Trustees oversees the work of the scheme.
