Summary

We are looking to recruit a Bilingual Teaching Assistant to support Dari and Pashto first language pupils in Wiltshire working 32.5 hours per week on a 12-month temporary/fixed-term contract.

A Bilingual Teaching Assistant is required to provide language support for pupils learning English as an additional language (EAL) whose first language is Dari or Pashto. It’s an exciting opportunity to use your language skills to support their development.

**About the role**

You will help Dari and Pashto speakers have better access to the national curriculum, assist with initial language assessments of referred pupils, advise school staff with regards to their language and cultural needs and help with home/school liaison to increase parental involvement.

This role may involve work in any school in Wiltshire.

**About you**

We will look to you to have some knowledge and experience of the English education system, a good understanding of the language development of pupils learning EAL. You will have excellent English and Dari communication skills and are very likely to also speak fluent Pashto. You’ll have an understanding of the cultural background and needs of children from Afghanistan.

We would consider a job share arrangement involving one Dari and one Pashto speaker.

You will have good A level or equivalent qualifications in English and Maths.
