contract: Part time, Temporary

OPPORTUNITY FOR EXTERNALLY APPOINTED TRUSTEE with MEDICAL PHYSICS SPECIALISM

Skills and Experience

The specialist Medical Physics Trustee would also undertake committee work, including advising on the development of policies and processes, contributing to the promotion of research and development work of the College and in other areas that may utilise their interests and expertise.

Why Volunteer as a Trustee?

Being a charitable Trustee of the College of Radiographers is worthwhile, rewarding and stimulating. It provides opportunities to:
Develop your skills and experience in the context of charity governance

Participate in two training days a year with external experts, including one shared with the Society of Radiographers board.

Receive paid standard class travel to London and overnight hotel stays when required (if not already based in London) for board meetings and other events.

Enhance your professional networks.

Work as a member of a close-knit team, each bringing their own area of expertise and experience

Contribute to the advancement of a cause and profession making huge advances in improving patient care.

Time Commitment

The term of office is five years, with the option to stand for a second, five-year term. There are four daytime board meetings each year, as well as two training days. Meeting dates are set with inclusivity in mind, so as to not clash with major religious and cultural festivals, or with UK-wide public and school holidays. There is also an expectation that Trustees will represent the College on other committees and task groups, as well as at events representing the Board, such as Radiographer of the Year and the Presidential Inauguration. New Trustees will receive induction training after joining the Board.

Diversity, Equality, Inclusion

Meeting Arrangements

This is an unpaid voluntary position, although out-of-pocket expenses are paid for agreed travel, accommodation and subsistence associated with the role, when this is required. Board Meetings are often hybrid, held face to face at the Society’s head office at 207 Providence Square, Mill Street, London SE1 2EW, with a remote access option. Some meetings are only held remotely. Lunch is provided for all London-based meetings. The building is fully accessible, and remote access to meetings via videoconference available on most occasions.

Please note that individuals are automatically disqualified as Charity Trustees if they:
Have unspent convictions for offences of dishonesty or deception.

Have been disqualified from being a company director.

Have previously been removed as a Trustee, or as a charity officer, agent, or employee, by the Commission or the High Court due to misconduct or mismanagement.

Volunteering Position
