Our client is a shared service that delivers high quality library and IT services to support the users of the three institutions that currently comprise the Universities at Medway (University of Kent, University of Greenwich and Canterbury Christ Church University).

They have asked us to help recruit a temporary Weekend Services Assistant working as part of the weekend team to serve the needs to staff and students using the libraries at weekends, answering a range of library and IT enquiries, and undertake duties otherwise allocated to the weekend team as part of the overall User Services group.

The standard hours of work will be 9am to 5pm, Saturday and Sunday, with the possibility of additional hours during the week.

The hourly pay rate will be £12.50 per hour.

The temporary position will be for a minimum of two months, however this may be extended at the discretion of the client.

The Weekend Services Assistant will share weekend duties with the Weekend Services Coordinator.

Assists with marketing our services to our users through campaigns, social media, events, and our website. Deals with back-office account queries and efficient circulation of book stock.

Maintain a high-quality service during the weekend and handing over smoothly to the weekday library teams.

**Key Accountabilities**
- Liaison with Weekend Services Co-ordinators and Weekend Services Assistants at Greenwich and Medway to ensure smooth running of the weekend service.
- Resolving enquiries, or otherwise logging or referring to the appropriate further stage.
- Support open days, weekend events, library tours as required.
- Deal with student problems and complaints exercising discretion, within policy guidelines.
- Resolving issues with library users accounts.
- Working on service points and associated rotas including face to face support consisting of the library Reception and Help Desks.
- Roaming and general front of house library duties.
- Supporting the efficient circulation of materials, including reservations.
- Processing and repairing book stock.
- Raising incident reports for escalation for behavioural, security or health and safety issues.
- Offering support to those using the IT and Library facilities, including the use of the library catalogue, self-service machines or online library resources.

**Person Specification**:

- Very strong customer service experience, both in person and phone based.
- Experience of resolving customer complaints
- Enquiry handling skills in a library, higher education or IT service desk environment would be an advantage.
- Experience of working in a higher education, library or IT environment would be an advantage
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good IT skills
