Communications Officer

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a comms all-rounder to join our team at a leading mental health and learning disabilities NHS Trust based in Leeds, West Yorkshire.
The Communications Officer will play an instrumental role in the production and delivery of a wide range of both internal and external communications activity. This includes supporting staff, stakeholder and public engagement through excellent and creative written and digital content.
You will lead on a wide range of communications functions and channels including media relations, staff and stakeholder communications, service user communications and various campaigns and projects.
You’ll be a fantastic writer with an ability to turn complex and sensitive information into compelling content for a wide range of audiences. You will also be highly proficient at digital communications and be a dab hand at web and social media content management.
You’ll have excellent interpersonal skills and be confident when presenting yourself and your ideas to a range of people, including senior managers, journalists and service users.
With a broad area of responsibilities, no two days in the Communications Officer role are ever the same.
You will use your skills and creativity to help our services and staff members tell their stories, share important information and update their audiences using the most appropriate communications channels.
The communications you will produce will vary but could include:
- News releases
- Social media posts
- Leaflets
- Web and online content
- Corporate publications
As well as producing first-class communications, you will also evaluate and report on communications activities to showcase the impact of communications and to ensure learnings can be made for future projects.

Working as part of the Trust’s Communications Team, the Communications Officer provides comprehensive support to deliver the Trust’s communications and engagement plans. This includes supporting staff, service user, member, stakeholder and public engagement through excellent and creative written and digital communication.
