The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham is working with residents and local stakeholders to make our borough inclusive and Autism friendly.

We are building strong partnerships with organisations who have a track record of creativity and innovation and shaping integrated, high-quality services focused on independence, choice, and control.

We want to appoint a Strategic Autism Lead, on a fixed term 12-month contract, to be a strong advocate for our Autistic residents - we need an individual who can lead and effect positive change, turning our ambitions into reality.

The role will be supported by a programme team, senior leaders, and resident champions who will steer and support you to improve the inclusive service delivery. The post holder will be able to work from home and be based in our offices in Hammersmith & Fulham, which are easily accessible by public transport and cycle routes.

**About you**
We are looking for a passionate, flexible individual with excellent communication skills, able to think strategically, who is a strong commissioner and can operate with attention to detail.
If you have lived experience of autism and/or have previous experience of working with residents with learning disabilities and autism, we would welcome hearing from you.

**Role Responsibilities**:
The Strategic Autism lead will:

- Lead on the coordination, development, and implementation of an ‘all age’ Autism Strategy in Hammersmith and Fulham, ensuring that in all aspects, it is co-produced with Autistic residents and aligned to the Council's values around equality and inclusion.
- Establish our Autism governance structure, with representation of residents, key stakeholders, and decision makers, who will oversee the development and implementation of the Autism Strategy.
- Lead and work alongside commissioners across Health, Adult and Children’s Social Care to implement of our commissioning priorities and develop high quality, local services to support a diverse range of residents in a timely and effective way.
- Work alongside our Housing and Economy departments, and our buoyant local business sector to improve pathways of access and support to housing and into work.
- Work with our Health colleagues to embed integrated pathways to services both pre and post autism diagnosis.
- Support our Autism Community Champions and Ambassadors, as part of making Hammersmith and Fulham an Autistic friendly borough.
