Male or Female Personal Care Assistant/Support Worker required to assist a young man with physical and learning disabilities living in the Quarter area of Hamilton.

You would be required to provide one-to-one care and assistance within their home, and in the community including attending to personal care and participation in social activities. Your duties would involve assisting with tasks such as:

- Attending to limited personal care needs (shaving, nail cutting)
- Supervising the taking of oral medication
- Preparing and cooking meals and healthy snacks
- Social activities on an ad-hoc basis such as cinema trips, going out for a meal, swimming etc.
- Household shopping and collecting prescriptions
- Household chores, assisting with laundry, changing beds, and ironing
- Any other daily living tasks to promote independent living

A full driving licence is essential and you will be required to use your own vehicle for which a mileage allowance will be paid.

Must take a proactive and innovative approach to support and encourage the individual to be involved in activities suited to their needs.

Experience is preferred but not essential.

The most important qualities are a warm, compassionate, and friendly nature with an understanding of those with extra learning needs and a desire to work within a caring role and assist the disabled individual reach their full potential for independent living.

Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential. The cared-for person is shy and almost non-communicative until he gets to know people.

**Hours of Work**

Recruiting for two posts covering 53.5 hrs over 7 days

Split shifts across two daily periods morning and evenings on a rolling rota.

£10.90 per hour increasing to £12.00 per hour on 1st April, 2024

Expected hours: 20 - 28 per week
