We are recruiting the Lead for Psychological Services for Children and Young People’s Services (CYPS). It's an exciting time to join the Trust formed in Oct 2019 with the merger of the former 2gether NHS FT & Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust. Our directorate provides mental & physical health services for children across Gloucestershire.

The successful applicant will join a group of professional leads for psychological services across different specialities & care groups in our trust working together to ensure the highest standards of governance and quality in service provision. You will hold responsibility for professional leadership & stewardship of psychological practice within CYPS including Core CAMHS, LD, VCS, MHST in Schools & other teams.

You will be a highly experienced Psychological Practitioner with significant experience of leadership & work at consultant level in CYPS services. You will draw on experience of shaping & developing services & lead psychological service provision at scale. The post holder will provide at least one day of clinical work according to their clinical expertise & service needs.

A dynamic team player, you will have experience of operating in complex systems & work closely with other service & clinical leads to support the development of the service. You will be able to think strategically, work collaboratively with system partners & possess the skills needed to deliver high quality outcomes for children, young people & families.
- Provide professional leadership for psychological services across CYPS within Gloucestershire, which accepts referrals from a wide range of multi-agency partners. This includes responsibility for professional oversight of training and clinical supervision of psychological professionals and practice and maintenance of a high-quality service.
- Have oversight of provision of training, consultation and supervision of psychological practice to a range of specialist staff in CAMHs and other agencies
- Provide leadership in relation to the CAMHS Governance agenda, with support from other CAMHS Senior Leads
- Provide clinical expertise & casework input within cross county CAMHS clinics as part of routine job plan.
- Advise on psychological services budgets and resourcing requirements and hold responsibility for the storage, maintenance and safe use of psychological test equipment across CYPS

Psychological services across the Trust are highly valued and the Head of Psychological Services reports into the Nursing, Therapies and Quality directorate. An important aspect of this role will be to ensure that a culture of research, quality improvement and digital innovation is maintained and developed in the service.

We have strong links with the local Clinical Psychology Training Course at Bath University and psychologists in Gloucestershire input to the teaching programme, have trainees on placement and contribute to the selection process.

Gloucestershire offers a mix of beautiful countryside, market towns and city experience. The regency town of Cheltenham hosts numerous cultural and sporting events; historic dockland development in Gloucester city has provided a thriving quays area; Stroud was recently voted the best place to live 2021 in Sunday Times list.

Geographically, Gloucestershire is well placed for visiting the South West, Wales, Midlands, Bristol, London and the South coast. There are good transport links to the rest of the country.
- To be responsible for the professional management/leadership, oversight and governance of CYPS psychological services. This includes management/professional leadership of qualified psychological professionals, trainees and assistants, and the psychological materials employed in the assessment and treatment of service users.
- To be responsible for psychological aspects of service and policy development across CYPS - advising on the nature/level of resources necessary, ensuring the systematic provision of high-quality psychological practice across all sectors of care and interpreting and implementing clinical and professional policy and standards.
- To provide expert psychological input to own caseload and deal with the most severe and complex clinical cases within CAMHS and to be responsibility for promoting the psychological health and well-being of children and young people across the Trust, within all relevant care pathways.
- To provide leadership regarding the CAMHS Quality & Governance agenda, including assurance, oversight & improvement. This involves working with other Senior Leads to develop and deliver high quality, safe and effective CAMHS services in accordance with key national targets, current quality-based delivery plans, clinical standards, service priorities and performance indicators set by local commissioners and Trust policies.
