**Post: Trust Wide Estates Assistant**

**Facilities Manager/Assistant Estates Manager**

**Working time**:
**Full time, 36 hours per week**

**Main purpose of the post**:

- Working across three sites but primarily based at Ashton Sixth Form College. To assist with the opening and closing of the College, and to contribute to maintenance, security, porterage and cleaning.

**Main duties**:
**1 Operational/Strategic Planning**

Contribute to setting standards in the Department’s annual self-assessment report and action plan in line with the College’s planning and quality assurance procedures.

**2 Maintenance**

To assist the Assistant Estates Manager in carrying out routine and everyday maintenance, including replacing broken windows; general painting and decorating; unblocking sinks, toilets, grids, drains, etc.; fitting notice boards, whiteboards, shelves, coat hooks, etc.; changing light bulbs; door maintenance; fixing window catches; mounting and hanging of displays.

**3 Cleaning**

3.1 To be available to support/assist staff and students that have a disability, should this be required.

3.2 To assist the Assistant Estates Manager:

- in removing snow from main entrances and to treat paths and steps with salt during periods of ice and snow

**- in collecting litter from collection points and removing to bin areas**

**- to report blocked drains and gullies**
- in ensuring that general surrounds of the buildings are tidy and litter free;
3.3 To assist cleaning staff in the provision of cleaning cover during periods of staff shortage.

3.4 To undertake the cleaning of special areas (if required).

**4 Locking Up and Unlocking of Buildings & General Security of Premises**

**4.1 To assist in the opening of the buildings and switching off alarms, when required.**

**4.2 To ensure that the premises are vacated before securing.**

**4.3 To ensure that the buildings are secured, including windows, outbuildings and gates, and alarms (burglar and fire) are set and working before leaving the site.**

**4.4 To attend the site outside of normal working hours in the event of an emergency call-out and to take appropriate action in the event of a call-out.**

**4.5 To organize the boarding up of windows for security purposes.**

**7.1 To cover for absent site staff, and to work weekends when required.**

7.2 Work collaboratively as part of a team to share good practice.

7.3 Work flexibly providing cover for absent colleagues when required.
