**Position: Careers Coordinator**

**Location: Mainstream Secondary School, Brent**

**Salary: Grade 7, Point 14-24; Term time only salary £28,465.45 - £33,666 per annum (Full-time equivalent salary £29,915 - £35,381)**

**Hours: 40 hours per week, term time only**

**The Role**: As the Careers Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in the personal development and career guidance of our students. You will lead 1:1 and small group discussions on careers and destinations, develop our work experience program, and collaborate with partners to provide relevant opportunities for our pupils. Your ability to utilise data effectively will ensure that all students can access a wide range of activities and experiences.

**Key Duties**:

- Organise, manage, and deliver careers advice, education, and guidance from years 7 to 13, meeting the Gatsby benchmarks
- Lead 1:1, small group, and whole cohort activities and events to provide exposure to further education, higher education, apprenticeships, and employers
- Conduct 1:1 guidance meetings with certificating cohorts (Year 11, 12, and 13) to ensure students make informed choices regarding their next steps
- Provide support for the transition of SEND and at-risk pupils
- Collaborate with the Careers Curriculum Lead/HoD PSHE to ensure students complete aspirations quizzes regularly, and use the data to target activities based on need, preference, and interest
- Organise work experience placements for Year 10 and 12 students, ensuring all placements meet health and safety standards
- Prioritise and provide tailored support for students in vulnerable groups
- Develop opportunities for collaboration with local universities and promote widening participation
- Support Heads of Department in organising careers-related experience days, industry-related speakers, and other relevant programs
- Establish and maintain an alumni network
- Design and update relevant displays across the academy to advertise careers work

**Person Specification**:

- Level 6 qualification in careers guidance or willingness to work towards it
- Experience of working within a school setting (ideal but not essential)
- Strong IT skills, including Excel and the ability to learn new platforms to support work
- Experience of working with young people, preferably in a school or college setting
- Thorough knowledge of education, employment, training, and personal development opportunities available for young people, including labour market information
- Ability to engage and inspire young people with SEND and disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as their parents/carers
