An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Scrub Lead Practitioner within our Operating department in Barnet Hospital. We are looking for a dynamic, innovative and highly motivated registered nurse with excellent clinical knowledge in the Theatre setting to lead our team.

This Band 7 role is vital to the continued development and support of staff in the operating department leading to improved patient and staff experience. We encourage the development of our staff and support the further education of our team members in areas which benefit the service and our patients.

You will be supported in this role by the Theatre Matron and Senior Operations Manager and will be expected to work Monday to Friday to support theatre practitioners and manage the service. There are opportunities for your personal development through our leadership programme.

We have a good senior team in place with fellow band 7s, a Matron, an Assistant Clinical Operations Manager and a Senior Clinical Operations Manager who can offer support alongside our Practice Education team and mentors to help support and develop staff.

**JOB SUMMARY**:
To co-ordinate and be accountable for the day-to-day running of theatres, labour ward theatres and other areas requiring general anaesthetic support such as endoscopy and special suite
- To ensure that a high quality service is delivered within the budget. To be accountable for the management of all resources within the theatre complex in conjunction with the Matron and the Senior Operations Manager.
- Liaise with the Matron over requirements of the service and staffing. Be directly responsible for the line management and appraisal of all bands. In conjunction with the Practice Development Facilitator and Matron assist with the supervision, development and support of other theatre practitioners.
- To identify bottlenecks in the theatre service and take appropriate action to promote patient flow within the department in conjunction with senior operational staff.
- Be responsible for co-ordinating the daily staff rotas, information on delays, start times and late finishes, minimising wasted resources in relation to staffing and equipment resource.

To be able to work independently using own initiative, but to seek guidance where appropriate.
