An exciting opportunity has arisen for a **Full Time, Lead Medical Secretary and Theatre Scheduler, Band 4** based at the University Hospital Wishaw, working within Breast & Plastics department.

**Shift Pattern; **Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

**This is a Fixed Term or Secondment opportunity.**

The post holder will supervise an administrative team of secretaries and administrative clerks, to provide a comprehensive administrative support to a team of clinicians, enabling clinicians to operate effectively and efficiently. Ensure the work of the administration team is carried out in accordance with NHS Lanarkshire's standard operating procedures..

The post holder will take primary responsibility for organising theatre schedules for your speciality (or specialities ) to make optimum use of the available capacity. All work should be carried out in accordance with standard operating procedures ( including waiting time guarantees for patients).

**Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job**.
- SVQ level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience) plus at least 2 years experience as a medical secretary.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of medical terminology.
- Evidence of effective team working and dealing with change.
- Evidence of good communication skills with patients, clinicians and colleagues.
- Advanced audio typing skills.
- Evidence of strong competence with relevant IT systems.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Proven ability to work under pressure.
