**Job summary**:
Healthcare UK provides tailored support for NHS organisations in developing their international strategy and facilitates global projects (export only) for private and public UK suppliers. Our NHS Strategy and Support Team’s key role is to identify and engage with these public organisations in the UK and build export programmes.

Many NHS organisations are already engaging with international healthcare providers. By sharing its expertise and innovations, the NHS has contributed to global health outcomes and prosperity, and generated revenue to re-invest in UK patient services.

The new NHS Export Collaborative initiative supports this work further with formation of partnerships, facilitation of innovation sharing and building environments that supports commercial income opportunities from overseas, whilst protecting domestic NHS priorities.

There is opportunity for Trusts and other NHS organisations to work collaboratively to secure and deliver ambitious international projects according to their individual strengths and situations.

Healthcare UK and its network of NHS specialists and international trade advisors are at the heart of this initiative, with an aim of increasing exporting.

This role is primarily to develop, refine and implement a programme of activities aimed at supporting the NHS and DHSC Arm’s Length Bodies (ALB) to increase income through exports.

There is continually growing demand for UK healthcare services overseas, particularly of NHS quality, and currently insufficient capability and capacity in the system to fully respond to that demand and maximise opportunities. The job holder will work closely with colleagues in our

Healthcare and Life Sciences teams to ensure that the NHS is properly represented in the ongoing development and promotion of the ‘UK offer’.

**Job description**:

- assess and quality assure relevant commercial opportunities
- develop business proposals in response to qualified opportunities and published tenders
- negotiate and secure overseas contracts in their areas of interest/specialism
- implement contract management & business assurance processes within consortia and other groupings

As Business Assurance Lead, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and sharing the tools, processes and guidance the NHS needs to secure export wins.

You will be part of a newly set up and fast-paced team working with colleagues across

Healthcare UK and a wide variety of NHS organisations, as well as DIT’s overseas network.

Duties of the role include but are not limited to:

- Conducting desk research to identify healthcare trends in key markets of interest to the NHS and coordinate/extend DIT’s market intelligence
- Scanning commercial portals for published tenders of relevance to NHS organisations
- Supporting NHS organisations come together to respond to export opportunities e.g. by working with consortia and other collaborative groupings to establish their business assurance processes.
- Develop pricing and other toolkits to support NHS organisations in their international commercial activity
- Providing specific guidance and signposting to NHS organisations on managing risks associated with international work e.g. in contracting, legal, due diligence and other business activities.
- Linking with overseas DIT trade advisors to supply insight to NHS organisations on specific overseas markets
- Curating and promoting the HCUK online resource library
- Working with NHS family organisations to overcome barriers to exporting
- Collaborating with colleagues in other government departments on specific projects and policy areas including brand protection and intellectual property management

**Hybrid Working**

Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.

Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.

Most DIT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average. If your office location is London, you will be eligible to receive London weighting.
