Programme Coordinator

**PLEASE APPLY VIA THE KEW CAREERS WEBPAGE**
Job Purpose:
To engage visitors with the mission of Wakehurst, Kew’s wild botanic garden, through compelling programming about our garden collections, our horticulture, the Millennium Seed Bank and Kew Science.
Supporting the Senior Programme Managers and Operations Manager in managing all aspects of the development and delivery of the Wakehurst Events Programme.
Taking the lead role in day-to-day management of work streams for programming.
Working as part of the Public Programmes team on similar and related duties, such as supporting the operational delivery of the entire programme.
Job Context:
RGB Kew is the world leader in plant science and conservation, with two leading visitor attractions; The Royal
Botanic Gardens Kew and Wakehurst Botanic Gardens. Visitor programming is key to communicating the importance of Kew’s work in plant and fungal science and the contribution Kew makes to some of the major challenges facing humanity.
Wakehurst is Kew’s wild botanic garden and home to the Millennium Seed Bank. Our living collection of plants from Britain and around the globe thrives within a tapestry of temperate woodlands, meadows and wetlands.
Recreations of threatened wild plant communities sourced in locations from Australasia to North America meet the rocky outcrops and stream-carved valleys of our ancient and beautiful landscape - a microcosm of the Sussex High Weald. Stewarded by humans since at least the Bronze Age, today our landscape is shaped by Kew’s skilled horticulturalists and conservationists, offering all who visit experiences of escape, exploration, awe and wonder.
Wakehurst is a living laboratory and a site of globally significant plant science where we research and demonstrate how a biodiverse landscape benefits people and the environment. Pivotal to Wakehurst’s place as a world-class centre for ecology, conservation and seed research, is Kew’s Millennium Seed Bank, the world’s largest store of seeds from wild plant species. Growing from these seeds deepens our knowledge of the ecology of diverse landscapes and unlocks ways to halt plant extinction. The Millennium Seed Bank underpins Wakehurst’s approach to plant conservation - it is at once a beacon of international expertise and a symbol of hope.
Wakehurst is a place for curious minds, hands-on learning and education. We want everyone to understand how plants and fungi support all aspects of our lives - from providing medicines and sanctuary that enhance our physical and mental health, to clothing, feeding and housing us.
