Lead the establishment of Procurement capability and ways of working. Set the overall commercial vision and strategy for the organisation, focused on the strategic objectives; enhancing quality, productivity and value for money. Develop and own the strategic procurement roadmap, ensuring alignment to the national procurement agenda, through the implementation of strategic activities across broad areas (such as category and market management, governance, people and skills, data & technology, strategic Procurement, supply chain management and sustainability) Develop and deliver commercial strategies requiring supplier innovation, senior stakeholder engagement, and/or market building/shaping Employ effective leadership, communication, negotiation and influencing skills to drive effective cultural and technological change across large and complex organisations Engage with and influence stakeholders at all levels and in sensitive and political situations, delivering difficult messages where required to high-level audiences and staff members alike. Lead an organisation-wide procurement leadership team, comprising of category leads and managers, data and technology (incl.

analytics) leads and sustainability leads. Provide strategic direction and act as a credible figurehead and focal point of contact for key stakeholders (for commercial and procurement issues). Build strategic relationships nationally, commensurate with being a senior leader within the NHS. Operate effectively in a flexible and demanding environment and proactively engage with stakeholders.

Lead as an expert; integrating systems and managing effective working relationships with the appropriate stakeholders Drive and challenge each key working relationship to innovate and to drive reform to achieve agreed objectives. Manage potentially aggressive and/or antagonistic situations with staff and stakeholders within change programmes for successful outcomes, often dealing with complex and conflicting issues with staff and stakeholders. Employ effective communication, negotiation and influencing skills to enable stakeholder relationships to deliver objectives over the duration of projects/programmes. Represent the Sector in sensitive and political situations, delivering difficult messages where required to high-level audiences.

Resolve competing priorities across the aforementioned areas as well as manage stakeholders within the organisation as well as externally.
