Associate Sleep Physiologist

The Bristol Sleep Unit is a thriving outpatient facility for the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory sleep disorders, delivering a range of sleep tests, including overnight studies and therapy sessions. The Sleep Unit forms part of the Respiratory Medicine Department at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. The postholder may occasionally need to be work from a different clinical setting, such as South Bristol Community Hospital.
We are looking for a caring individual to help assist the Sleep Unit team deliver daytime clinical support to its many patients. As part of this busy and dynamic department you will be required to work within the team, supporting the service. This role will hold some responsibility for stock ordering via EROS as well as being able to undertake diagnostic testing such as overnight oximetry and issuing Polygraphy studies.
The main aspects of the role is supporting the Philips recall where patients on CPAP devices need their equipment swapped. The role will involve coordinating recall clinics in South Bristol Community Hospital and Bristol Royal Infirmary, working closely with assistant physiologists, supporting operational management and clinical delivery.
You should have the ability to work flexibly, be able to work using your own initiative and enjoy working as part of a team. A keen eye for detail and accuracy is also required. Previous experience of working in a healthcare environment is essential.
- Philips CPAP device recall.
- Undertake and perform simple interpretation of a range of diagnostics and assessments in sleep studies.
- Support the implementation of treatment plans and ongoing monitoring of CPAP treatment.
- Communicate basic interpretation of results to the appropriate healthcare professional.
- Triage urgency of calls and action requests following agreed protocols.
- Ensure accuracy of clinical information on Careflow by liaising with administrative staff.
