**Overall Job Purpose**:

- To support the work of the literacy faculty to implement and deliver an appropriately relevant and differentiated curriculum for small cohorts of students who require additional support in improving their reading and writing to age expected levels
- To support the librarian to develop a love of reading across the academy
- To contribute to raising standards of attainment and achievement by monitoring and supporting student progress and developing students as a reading intervention officer
- To support in the strategic implementation of Lexonik Leap and Lexonik Advance programmes

- To share and support the academy’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth and success
- This role is pivotal in enhancing literacy outcomes by providing comprehensive support to pupils that require additional support for reading
- The Reading Intervention Officer will attend training, facilitate resource allocation, monitor progress, and create strong communication channels among all stakeholders
- Support the implementation of NGRT (New Group Reading Test) data and the support that follows with targeted support to our weakest readers, including those with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and EAL (English as an Additional Language) students, ensuring inclusive educational practices

**Role and responsibilities**:

- Monitor adherence to programme guidelines and standards
- Schedule and coordinate interventions for pupils
- Adapt any intervention to suit the needs of pupils
- Organise regular meetings with line manager and relevant teaching staff to discuss programme progress and interventions
- Manage and allocate all Lexonik related resources and any other reading programmes as appropriate
- Ensure all necessary materials are available for teachers and students
- Coordinate with the directory of literacy to develop training materials and resources to support ongoing professional development
- Use the NGRT data to guide and support student progress
- Work with the director of literacy to allocate intervention where appropriate
- Utilise assessment tools to measure literacy improvements and identify areas for intervention as appropriate
- Support the director of literacy to present findings and make recommendations for programme improvements
- Gather feedback from parents/guardians, teachers and students about the progress of Lexonik Leap and Advance within the classroom
- Stay updated on best practices and new developments in literacy education.

**Teaching and Learning**
- Support the director of literacy with Lexonik Leap and Lexonik Advance and any other reading initiatives
- Provide strategies for differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of students
- Offer tools and methods for assessing student progress and program effectiveness
- Supply additional materials to reinforce learning, such as practice exercises and extension activities
- Provide ongoing professional development opportunities focused on literacy instruction and program best practices
- To assist in the development of appropriate syllabuses, resources, schemes of work, marking policies and teaching strategies in the Literacy faculty
- To support and where appropriate deliver a designated programme of teaching and to plan and prepare courses and lessons
- To contribute to the whole academy’s planning activities
- To participate in whole school professional development, quality assurance activities and other learning evaluation strategies in accordance with academy policy
- Implement academy policies relevant to teaching and learning, including behaviour, home learning and assessment
- To support the director of literacy with effective data management to plan support strategies and coordinate as required
