We are looking for a highly motivated Band 4 Assistant Practitioner to join The Surgical Emergency Unit Triage team

SEU Triage is an emergency surgical assessment area based at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. We care for a wide variety of patients who present as emergencies. This will provide you with the opportunity to build a range of skills and knowledge upon which to construct your health career.

We are a diverse and motivated team seeking enthusiastic personalities and motivated new colleagues. You will be working alongside our already established APs, Registered Nurses and Advanced Nurse Practitioners, which will give you the opportunity to learn and understand different roles and duties within our multidisciplinary team. Our friendly team will support and help you to learn and adapt in your new assessment environment.

Main duties of the job will include assisting the other members of the MDT in the admission of a wide variety of surgical patients who present to SEU Triage as emergencies.

The successful applicant will care for a wide range of new surgical admissions, perform venepuncture and cannulation, helping patients with their daily personal care needs, manual handling, monitoring patient's clinical conditions, wound care and escalating this appropriately. You will also have the opportunity to gain and acquire new learning opportunities to improve your knowledge and skills.

As a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner you will act as a role model to your junior colleagues.

It is essential to have completed the Foundation Degree in Health & Social Care - or equivalent.
