Job Advert

Band 8a

**Open to**: Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists who are registered with the Association of Child Psychotherapists.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate and creative senior Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with CAMHS experience and experience of working with adolescents to work in the socially and ethnically diverse borough of Newham.

The AMHT is commissioned to provide early intervention in psychosis (EIS) for 13- to 18-year-olds as well as offer mental health care to young people presenting with high risk of severe life-threatening self-harm. The team model includes joint working as well as individual working with young people and their families. The team offers a range of interventions including systemic family therapy, individual therapy (CBT, psychoanalytical psychotherapy, narrative therapy) and psychiatric support. The team works within a Care Pathway model of service delivery with a multidisciplinary framework, holding weekly MDT meetings where all high-risk cases are discussed. It incorporates a developmental approach into its formulation of young people’s presentation and an understanding of adolescent personality development. Due to the nature and severity of their mental health difficulties, young people will frequently need a longer-term engagement with the team.

**Please note**: the post holder would need to be available to work on Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons for MDT meetings.

The post holder will represent the Child Psychotherapy discipline and contribute to a positive working environment within the Adolescent Mental Health Team (AMHT) multi-disciplinary team of which they will be a member. In this team, the post-holder will be contributing to MDT assessments of adolescents at risk of developing severe and enduring mental health difficulties and provide psychoanalytically informed treatment to young people and their parents and carers.

The post-holder will also be a member of the Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy team and will attend weekly clinical and business meetings. This team is currently developing a specialist Under-Fives pathway for Child Psychotherapy and has an established pathway for STPP (Short Term Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy) with adolescents. The post-holder may provide clinical supervision to other members of the Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy team. The post holder will require a high degree of professional autonomy and will be required to account for their professional practice through appraisal and audit.
