We are a busy, acute surgical ward specialising in Plastics, ENT, Maxillofacial, Urology and REI. We have a 5 bedded Level One area.

Support will be offered by our senior nursing team and clinical educator to enhance the clinical skills needed for our patient group.

The Nursing Associate (NA) is a highly trained support role registered and regulated by the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) which bridges the gap between Healthcare Assistants (HCA’s) and Registered Nurses (RN’s).

Nursing Associates deliver hands-on care for patients of all ages and in a variety of settings under the in-direct supervision and leadership of a registered nurse.

Nursing Associates deliver and monitor care, and at times this will be independently in line with the prescribed or defined plan of care.

Registered nurses will continue to be the primary assessors and prescribers of care while nursing associates deliver and adapt care, contribute to on-going assessment and recognise when to escalate to the registered nurse or other healthcare professionals within agreed parameters.

As registered professionals, nursing associates are individually accountable for their own professional conduct and practice. They will be expected to uphold the NMC Code, to work within their scope of practice and to raise concerns when needed

**Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.**

- Nursing associates have undertaken broad ranging theoretical and practical learning regarding healthcare and wellbeing to Foundation Degree level.
- Professional development will continue in line with the conditions of continued registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council’s Nursing Associate register.
- Specific tasks and knowledge will vary depending on clinical setting and responsibilities but the core job description will remain the same for all nursing associates.
- The nursing associate will work as part of a team, delivering health and social care that focuses on the holistic needs of service users.
