**Overview**
The translator plays a crucial role in enabling HMCTS and other partners within the Ministry of Justice to fulfil the obligations of their respective Welsh Language Schemes. The post holder will require linguistic skills of the highest standard in both English and Welsh in order to translate accurately and correctly having due regard to the grammar and syntax of both languages.
Key responsibilities:
Proof read own work and work of other translators within the team.
Present translated work within a bilingual format if required. This will involve familiarisation with bilingual design
Keeping abreast of developments in Welsh language terminology and technical aids for translators.
To assist in keeping the Welsh Language Unit’s bank of terminology up-to-date
**Skills & Qualifications**
A degree in Welsh, a recognised Translation qualification i.e. Membership of the Association of Welsh Language Interpreters or Post Graduate Certificate in Translation, or suitable experience in a translator’s role.
