**Background**
Good administrative staff with excellent customer service skills are vital to the effective operation of the Courts, Tribunals and other offices within Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS). Most of the staff within HMCTS are employed in administrative roles. HMCTS embraces Lean principles and continuous improvement techniques to provide high standards of customer service
**The key purpose of the role**
The Administrative Officer & Assistant Designer within the Welsh Language Unit provides a valuable service to the running of the Unit but also in providing a Welsh language service to court and tribunal users who wish to use the Welsh language in their interaction with us.
Continuous improvement tools and techniques are used in HMCTS and so there will be opportunities to exercise discretion and initiative and continually seek to improve ways that we provide our services.
Working as part of a flexible team, the postholder will be expected to undertake a range of the functions and responsibilities specified. The postholder will report to the Designer and Design Manager within the Unit.
**Key responsibilities**
**Administration**
- Entering work that comes into the Welsh Language Unit on the WLU’s workflow management system, 5PM.
- Assisting with preparing various statistical data on the work processed by the Welsh Language Unit e.g translation requests, phone calls, cases where Welsh was used in court and tribunal hearingsrk undertaken by the WLU for its various customers.
- General photocopying and filing.
- Assisting with the Welsh language telephone service
- Creating and updating records on in-house computer system and data input.
**Operations**
- Providing a range of design functions e.g bilingual forms
- Assisting with sub-titling on HMCTS video productions
- Assisting the Designer & Design Manager in ensuring the regional intranet pages are kept up-to-date
- To assist with maintaining HMCTS’ Welsh social media accounts e.g Twitter
- To provide a creative input to Welsh Language Unit video productions
- Helping to maintain the Magistrates Matters Welsh Language page
**Other duties**
The post holder is required to work in a flexible way and undertake any other duties reasonably requested by line management which are commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post.

**Skills & Qualifications**
The ability to write and speak Welsh is an essential requirement of this post.
**Technical Ability**
Strong I.T skills are required for this post and if possible a working knowledge of InDesign.
