Highfield and Brookham are looking to appoint a Highfield-based assistant to join our Learning Support team. This position will report to the Head of Learning Support; collaborate with the Learning Support team and the Highfield pastoral team. You must have a passion for inclusion; an understanding of neurodiversity and a desire to immerse yourself in the whole school ethos.

This is a part-time (circa 28.5 hours a week), term time only role.

There is also a requirement to attend INSET days at the beginning and end of each term, and twilight sessions as needed.

You will need to have excellent communication and organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise and be flexible in your approach to work. You will have to have a primary background, be computer literate, and an understanding of Educational Health Care Plans would be beneficial.

You will be responsible for in-school interventions, including activities such as touch typing, Lego Challenge and speech and language. You will also be required to liaise with parents, teachers, learning assistants and external professionals, ensure all parties are aware of each child’s needs as appropriate, and ensure that each child is receiving the correct provision. You may have to attend EHCP Annual Review meetings and TAC (Team Around Child) meetings, following which you will prepare minutes and follow up action points. You will keep accurate records using the school database system or the shared drives.

As a member of the Highfield and Brookham common room, you will have break and lunch duties each week, in line with Highfield colleagues.
