- Government Digital Service supports Digital Data Recruitment for other government departments. For this role, you will be working with The Planning Inspectorate._

The Planning Inspectorate has a long and proud history in ensuring a fair planning system by acting as the main appellate body for planning decisions in England and Wales. The judgements and decisions made by planning inspectors have a significant impact on the economy, people’s lives and the communities in which they live. We’ve embarked on an ambitious programme of business change supported by a complete refresh of the systems that support our core business services. We are redesigning and creating new services across all channels, supported by modern technology that’s transforming the way in which we deliver services to both our internal and external users.

**What you'll do**

As the Digital Security Lead you will lead the setting of our security vision, principles and strategy and ensure that our services are protected as we continue to build on our recent adoption of cloud technologies and join up with other government planning services.

A typical week will see you work with a wide range of stakeholders, coordinating with service managers to ensure security risks are appropriately managed, to provide assurance to our Executive Team that we are secure, and any security incidents are proactively managed.

**Who you'll be**

You ensure the digital and information security of new and existing digital services by:

- anticipating challenges
- setting strategic direction
- building capability
- ensuring compliance with standards and policies

Leading the combined security capabilities:

- security architecture
- security operations
- information security
- cyber security
- education and awareness
- security compliance

To be considered for the role, you must demonstrate the following essential Skills:

- Experience in leading and delivering complex security services, developing appropriate policy, supporting business as usual work and major programmes.
- Experience in cyber security and information security issues and techniques associated with securing a variety of technologies.
- Experience in senior stakeholder engagement and the sharing of complex technical security approaches and issues to non-technical audiences
- Experience in building high-performing teams, assessing and developing staff capability to meet business needs.
- Experience in security architecture, risk assessment and management techniques, cyber security, security operations, incident management and technical compliance practices.

The following skills are desirable but not essential:

- Knowledge of security in a UK Government context
- Relevant professional qualification at the professional level (e.g. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (ISC)2) or willingness to study for a qualification within a reasonable length of time)
- Experience in leading, collaborating, and delivering across business areas and networks, jointly developing concise, compelling arguments/strategies/outcomes.

**Salary**: £54,936.00-£59,832.00 per year
