Auroch Digital is part of the Sumo Group Ltd. They are a game development studio based in Bristol, UK and founded in 2010. The studio works on original titles, long-term partnerships, and work-for-hire projects such as porting. We specialise in strategy, retro and digital tabletop games, working with the likes of Games Workshop and Ndemic Creations. Auroch also has an interest in making games that relate to and deal with real-world issues.

Auroch Digital's titles include retro boomer shooter Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, the authentic beer brewing simulator Brewmaster, action-strategy hybrid Dark Future: Blood Red States, the console versions of fishy theme park management game Megaquarium and cute robot city builder The Colonists, and Mars Horizon 2: The Search for Life which is the sequel to Mars Horizon which was made in collaboration with the European Space Agency. The studio is currently working on several titles, both original IPs and ports.

**Lead Animator**

Auroch Digital is looking for a full-time, permanent Lead Animator.
- As Lead Animator, you will be managing a small team of 3-4 Animators and 1-2 VFX artists, creating animations for Auroch’s unannounced AAA’s outsourcing project.

This is a varied role, with a strong focus on mentorship and management. You will primarily mentor your team of animators, guiding them through creative and technical challenges and helping them achieve artistic growth and career goals.
- You will also be helping the project’s Associate Art Director and Producers in the day-to-day running of the team. This includes attending client feedback and production meetings, planning schedules and workflows, and anticipating project risks and challenges well in advance so the team can put contingencies in place. Your experience as Animator will be key to creating a well-running animation pipeline for the entire team.

**What we're looking for**:

- A strong interest in, or enthusiasm for management styles that prioritizes the growth and well-being of your team.
- A portfolio demonstrating appealing, stylized hand-keyed animation suitable for games.
- Ability to self-direct to meet quality and production goals.
- Previous experience integrating animation into game engines such as Unreal Engine, Unity, or in-house engines.
- Ability to represent the art team professionally and effectively to clients in external feedback and production meetings.
- Able to help Production create work schedules, plans, and workflows.
- Proactively identify, communicate, and minimize project risks and challenges as related to the project’s animation pipeline.
- Previous experience as a Senior, or equivalent experience on a commercially released videogame project.

**Nice to have**:

- Working knowledge of rigging, skinning, and animation controllers to communicate effectively with Technical Animators.
- An interest in VFX - your team will include 1-2 VFX Artists, and being able to give constructive feedback on VFX Animation will be a major help.
- Previous experience using, shooting, or integrating motion-capture data as a base layer for hand-keyed animation.
