The role of Communications and Engagement Officer will ensure appropriate steps are taken to promote inclusive and wide-ranging stakeholder engagement and develop robust communications channels for the development of the Trust’s new Community Diagnostic Centre.

The role is an exciting opportunity to be part of a small dynamic communications team with primary focus to lead on communications, engagement and marketing for the Trust-led CDC for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

Applicants must have previous experience in communications, engagement and marketing and possess excellent communications skills. The post holder will primarily lead engagement and communication activities, including providing advice on when and how to engage the local communities, staff and stakeholders on plans and will take responsibility for website, intranet, social media activity and any associated microsite.

Previous experience within communications and marketing within the NHS would be an advantage but equally important is the ability to work proactively and the flexibility to adapt to changing environments.

The role will also include general communications advice and support in partnership with project and clinical leads to ensure the good reputation of the Trust is reflected meaningfully to any key audiences.

To provide community engagement advice and guidance to senior leaders across the Trust

Create media opportunities that will enhance the reputation of the Community Diagnostic Centre and wider UHNM.

Develop and create new engagement, communications and marketing tools and materials, including writing, editing and co-ordinating internal, external and stakeholder publications.

Influence and persuade committees or staff on appropriate communications approach and ensure the best outcomes for the project.

The post holder will primarily lead engagement and communication activities, including providing advice on when and how to engage the local communities, staff and stakeholders on plans. This will include liaising with local partners and the design and production of materials to execute plans including social, digital resources, physical assets, engagement materials and other communications materials.

Main Duties of the Post

To develop, implement and evaluate a communications, engagement and marketing plan for the Community Diagnostic Centre. Including planning events and sitting on project group to advise on communications and engagement matters.

To provide community engagement advice and guidance to senior leaders across the Trust and with the Deputy Director of Communications, advice on contentious matters where opinions may differ, often reacting to unforeseen events and media interest.

Create media opportunities that will enhance the reputation of the Community Diagnostic Centre and wider UHNM. Oversee filming, interviews and photo opportunities.

To develop and create new engagement, communications and marketing tools and materials, including writing, editing and co-ordinating internal, external and stakeholder publications.

To be prepared to work flexibly, sometimes working outside normal working hours during events or particularly busy times.

To perform any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post, as directed by the head of the department.

Influence and persuade committees or staff on appropriate communications approach and ensure the best outcomes for the project.
