Radiology provides a wide range of imaging investigations within various imaging modalities, including plain film, MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine and Interventional Procedures. The role involves assisting with sterile procedures, chaperoning and preparing patients for examinations working alongside consultant radiologists, radiographers and sonographers.

The Imaging Directorate provides 24/7 service delivery and we invest in the upgrade and modernisation of equipment and facilities including the new Heartlands Treatment Centre.

Applicants must have NVQ Level 2 or equivalent Trust based competency or be willing to undertake.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
The role will involve working within a multidisciplinary team, providing high quality patient care during imaging investigations. The duties of the post include supporting radiographers, radiologists, nurses and sonographers as well as assisting with cleaning, manual handling and acting as a chaperone for the patient, while rotating through all areas of the Radiology department.

You will assist patients in changing before and after their examination ensuring adequate patient care is provided.

You will provide patients with a brief explanation of the procedure prior to the examination.

You will maintain a sterile field when opening sterile packs in line with aseptic technique.

You will insert/remove intravenous cannulas and flush with saline, according to scope of practice.

You should ideally have excellent communication skills and computer literacy. You should have a desire to expand beyond your current experiences with a willingness to meet new challenges.

Previous clinical experience in a healthcare setting is desirable but not essential.

You will need to be flexible in your approach to work and be able to work varied shifts across a 7 day week from 8 am to 8 pm. In-house training will be provided.
