The Medical Research Council (MRC) is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Administrator to join our Scientific Events and Committees Team at MRC Head Office. If you're an effective communicator who works well as part of a dynamic and fast-paced team,we would really like to hear from you.

**About MRC**

**About the Team**

You'll work as part of MRC's Scientific Events and Committees Team, which organises MRC events, meetings, workshops and launches. The team also supports some engagement and networking events. Our events and meetings take place virtually (via Zoom) and inperson. The team also looks after the recruitment of experts to MRC's funding Boards and Panels, which decide on how our core funding is allocated to scientific researchers. The team also supports a number of governance, finance and procurement activities.

**About the Role**

Your role will include:

- Attending in-person events/workshops/committee meetings (primarily in Swindon and London, but also in other UK locations), supporting the Events Team Manager
- Issuing invitations and tracking responses
- For our Overview Group and Funding meetings, leading on organising the venue and hospitality for face to face meetings, or arranging Zoom logistics for virtual meetings
- Requesting and accurately recording updates to declarations of conflicts of interest forms for members of our expert groups
- Drafting governance documents in accordance with local policies Raising purchase orders and receipting invoices
- Processing expense claims

**You will need**:

- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- The ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally
- Experience of working independently and as part of a team
- The ability to work proactively and use initiative to deliver results
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office - including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Excellent literacy and numerical skills
- Ability to deliver to tight timescales, including ability to prioritise/re-prioritise to deliver on time
- Ability to organise and prioritise own workload
- Ability to deal with people at all levels (adapting style as necessary) forging good and collaborative working relationships internally and externally
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and utilise problem solving skills
- Self-starter and motivator
- Experience of managing multiple activities
