**Job summary**:
The Cabinet Office is the corporate headquarters for government, employing over 6,000 people in a variety of roles across the UK. Its purpose is to ensure government works together to deliver for the United Kingdom, via 3 main roles:

- Leadership of effective “functions” which drive cross-government efficiency and delivery.
- Co-ordination of priority cross-government initiatives.
- Delivering the most important outcomes for the Prime Minister.

Cabinet Office Digital has a crucial role to play in enabling and transforming these diverse needs through digital transformation. The directorate has approximately 350 staff and is growing in order to meet the demands of the department, and to provide a wider and more mature range of digital, data, technology and security services.

This role is part of the Product function within CO Digital, a group of product managers, business analysts, performance analysts and user-centred design specialists responsible for understanding user needs and defining the problems which we can solve.

We work on:

- Products and services which solve problems around productivity, data, cyber security, shared platforms and services.
- Partnering with business units and their users to develop strategic priorities and opportunities.
- Platforms and capabilities which support all of the above.

**Job description**:
**The Role**

As a Head of Product you will be responsible for the success and growth of a portfolio of products in Cabinet Office Digital. Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, you will define the product strategy, set and own key performance indicators which measure success and be accountable for the product.

You will also act as a digital business partner for a group of internal stakeholders and users across the Cabinet Office.

You will manage and develop product managers, business/performance analysts and user-centred design specialists, to create, support and continuously improve products and services. You will collaborate and engage with users and teams across the Cabinet Office.

We work in a fast-moving environment where priorities frequently change and you will be flexible in adapting to changing government priorities, user research findings, data and learnings from the development process. Part of the success in the role is being able to work with colleagues to plan responses to the fast-moving nature of the department. There are times where major national incidents mean a shift towards tactical and urgent response as well as the strategic work, and this role and the organisation suits people who enjoy the pace of delivery while also strategically improving how we do things.

You will also represent your product and your teams, and communicate plans and progress through various channels including blogs and demos, as well as being accountable to senior management and stakeholders across government.

Each Head of Product defines the product strategy for a problem space and manages the combined roadmap and backlog. This involves working with users and stakeholders to lead and prioritise change that needs to happen, and working with CO Digital colleagues to ensure that the change can be delivered and that products at different stages of the lifecycle meet their goals and are operating well. Heads of Product are also responsible for setting those goals, key performance indicators and objectives/key results for each product.

The Head of Product has significant leadership responsibilities. We work in multi-disciplinary teams and deliver in a range of methodologies, including agile, building and developing some of the technology ourselves and also adopting procured services or those provided by our colleagues in Government Digital Service. The role therefore has responsibilities for team leadership, stakeholder management of dependent services and commercial contract management. You will also provide line management to product managers, business and performance analysts, and user-centred design specialists

Each Head of Product will be a champion for user needs and for prioritisation techniques to maximise business value and cost/benefit analysis; understand the end-to-end product lifecycle including support models; and communicate integrated strategy, roadmaps, product plans and progress through various channels, while listening to feedback and adapting priorities accordingly.
