**Health and Safety Advisor Trainee**

The purpose of a Health and Safety Advisor is to ensure that our staff at Lanes Group are carrying out their jobs safely, without causing any harm to themselves or the public. This is a trainee role where you will be guided and supported by the HSQE Advisor.

**Location**:Beckton, North London

**Job Type**:Permanent

**Hours**:Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours

**Salary**:£25,000 plus a non taxable company vehicle and fuel card

**Responsibilities**:

- Carry out risk assessments and identify how risks could be reduced.
- Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards.
- Carry out regular site inspections to ensure policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
- Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation.
- Prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policy.
- Lead internal training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks.
- Records of inspection findings are kept to produce reports with suggested improvements.
- Incidents and accidents are recorded to produce statistics for managers.
- Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry.
- Attend Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) seminars and read professional journals.
- Produce management reports, newsletters and bulletins.
- Ensure equipment is installed safely.
- Manage and organise the safe disposal of hazardous substances, e.g. asbestos.
- Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.

**About you**:
Full training will be given, however any prior knowledge or qualifications relating to Health and Safety would be beneficial but not essential.
