**Housing Options Officer**

**Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Customer Service and Enquiries Handling**:

- Respond to enquiries from individuals seeking assistance with housing options, homelessness prevention, and homelessness reviews.
- Provide accurate information and advice to customers regarding their housing situation, rights, and available support services.
- Maintain excellent standards of customer service and ensure all enquiries are handled promptly and professionally.
- **Homelessness Prevention**:

- Work proactively to prevent homelessness by assessing individuals' housing needs and providing support and advice on available housing options and assistance schemes.
- Review enquiries and decisions related to homelessness, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
- **Knowledge of Allocations Policies and Choice-Based Lettings**:

- Have a thorough understanding of allocations policies and procedures, including choice-based lettings systems, to effectively advise customers on housing options and allocations processes.
- **Temporary Accommodation Management**:

- Manage tenancies of customers in temporary accommodation, ensuring compliance with tenancy agreements and providing support as needed to facilitate sustainable housing solutions.
- **Private Sector Landlord Engagement**:

- Work closely with private sector landlords to support individuals affected by the lifting of the embargo on private sector evictions.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with landlords to secure suitable housing options for customers.
- **Backlog Management and Adhoc Duties**:

- Focus on clearing backlog cases efficiently and effectively, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and targets.
- Be available for adhoc duties such as triage as and when required, demonstrating flexibility and willingness to support team objectives.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Previous experience in a housing options or homelessness prevention role, preferably within a local authority or housing association setting.
- Knowledge of housing legislation, allocations policies, and homelessness prevention strategies.
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage a varied workload.
- Experience working with private sector landlords and knowledge of housing benefit systems is desirable.
- Proficiency in using IT systems and databases for case management and record-keeping.
