**Ecologist / Senior Ecologist / ECow**

**Location**: Home-based near Inverness ideally and will be covering projects in the Scottish Highlands and Islands

**Salary**: dependent on experience but in the region of £30,000-£45,000 plus pension scheme and package

**Summary**

A well-established ecological and environmental consultancy based in the Highlands of Scotland are seeking Senior Ecologist/Ecologist, and/or Ecological/Environmental Clerk of Works to cover projects in the Scotish Highlands and Islands
They have a number of clients who they work with closely and in partnership to provide advice and support for their project in many cases from concept, through planning and into construction and beyond. Our client base is wide, and covers a large number of development, conservation projects and ecological and environmental monitoring.
We are looking for someone who will complement the core team and long-term associates, but who are willing to branch into other aspects of consultancy as they business carry out a significant amount of licensed work on protected species (birds and mammals), habitat surveys and assessment, and management of the environment during construction (renewables, housing, hydro schemes etc).

**Essential criteria**
- UK driving licence & your own vehicle for which mileage can be claimed
- Relevant Ecological field work experience;
- Willingness to travel and work in remote locations on your own or as part of a team;
- Willingness to work some unsociable hours around dawn and dusk;
- High level of knowledge of breeding mammals and protected species of the Highlands of Scotland;
**Desirable**
- Environmental Clerk of Works (ECoW) experience.
- Previous survey experience in other ecological areas (botany, ornithology, bats);
- GIS experience
- BNG knowledge
- Schedule 1 licence holder
- Bat license, GCN license, badger license etc
- Peatland monitoring and NVC experience
- Experience of working on construction sites - CSCS card holder;
- A diligent approach to data collection and Microsoft Office skills;
